After serving our country for 42 years, Valerie Wyatt, our April Client of the Month, was denied Social Security Disability. Strapped with responsibilities and battling health issues, Valerie, for the first time in her life, asked for help. A mother of three and mentor to countless servicemen and servicewomen, we’re disheartened that Valerie was denied the benefits she worked hard for following her years of Active Army Duty, work as a Reservist, and Civil Service.

“Veterans feel guilty if they apply for disability retirement,” Valerie said.

The stigma that Social Security Disability is reserved for and sought after by people unwilling to work is false.

Serving as a Chief of Logistics Supervisor, Valerie’s ability to inspire and manage people allowed her to enhance the lives of everyone around her. Through motherhood and years of military experience, Valerie eventually earned an MBA in Management.

“Like they were my own kids, I always tried to be a voice for soldiers.”

But with colitis and thyroid issues, Valerie was working and living with debilitating, daily pain, which led her to apply for benefits.

“Originally I was told it would be no problem,” Valerie said. “I had no idea what I was up against—I’m glad I called Michles & Booth.”

Our very own Brian Carter went to work and within six months secured her Social Security Disability.

With Social Security benefits and room to breathe, Valerie is now spending extra time with her children, and preparing to relocate to Orlando.

At Michles & Booth, P.A. our greatest pleasure is fighting for you and earning your trust. Thank you, Valerie, for your friendship and loyalty. Your strength and service to our country inspires us!
