Q:  What are the resident's rights in a nursing home?
A:  When your loved one enters a nursing home as a resident, the facility is required by Florida statute to provide the resident with a list of their rights.  You can also call Michles & Booth, and we will be happy to provide that list to you; or, you can find the list in the Florida statutes.

Q:  Will I, the resident or the resident's family have to fund the claim or pay if we lose?
A:  The simple answer is "no."  Michles & Booth will pay all of the costs and then only collect those costs and a fee if a monetary recovery is made.

Q:  Why does nursing home abuse and neglect take place?
A:  Nursing homes exist for one purpose, and that is to make a profit.  Many times the people who spend the most time with a resident are not well trained and are cheap labor for the facility.  While most cases do not include an allegation that something untoward was done intentionally, these poorly trained, cheap workers are many times negligent in the care they give.  There are several other factors that are too voluminous to list as to why our loved ones are mistreated in nursing homes.

Q:  Will our claim be handled by the lawyers at Michles & Booth, or will our case be sent to other lawyers to handle?
A:  At Michles and Booth, the lawyer you meet with first will be the lawyer that works on the claim from start to finish.  While we have a team approach and other Michles & Booth lawyers may assist in the prosecution of the claim, the lawyer you first meet will be your point of contact throughout the life of the file.  Too many law firms market their services and then send the case out to other law firms.  Michles & Booth prides ourselves as being a full-service firm where the lawyer assigned to your case will investigate the claim, sign up the client and still be there when the last action on the claim is completed.
