Escambia-Santa Rosa Stand Down 2014
What is a Stand Down event?
Michles & Booth is once again happy to rally our attorneys in support of the annual Veterans Stand Down. For non-military friends out there, “stand down” is a military term meaning rack relaxation from readiness or alert. In this case, the Veterans Stand Down is an annual event to assist Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa County homeless and at-risk veterans.
This year’s Okaloosa event is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church at 134 Beal Pkwy SW in Fort Walton Beach. Stand down is an all-day event including food and clothing donations, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefit counseling and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as healthcare, housing, employment and substance abuse treatment.
How are we helping?
Attorneys for Michles & Booth will assist with the veterans’ court helping to address outstanding misdemeanor warrants for at-risk veterans; as well as assisting with the civil legal clinic to help our at-risk veterans address to receive civil legal problems.
The Escambia and Santa Rosa event, providing the same services, will be held October 24, 2014 at the VA Joint Ambulatory Care Center at 790 Veterans Way in Pensacola. Attorneys for Michles & Booth have volunteered at these events for the past three years and look forward to continuing to volunteer for local veterans.
This is just one of many ways our firm gives back to, and stays connected with, the community. These well-attended events provide crucial services to the military and veteran community, which is the heart and soul of the Florida Panhandle.
