Michles & Booth: A Mary Esther Personal Injury Law Firm Built for the Panhandle

A serious accident in Mary Esther can flip your life in a matter of hours. Medical bills start arriving before you leave the hospital, work stops, and the at-fault driver's insurance carrier calls with an offer that sounds helpful at the time, but it’s obviously not fair. In our experience, it never is. But our aggressive and dedicated team steps in at that point, shifts the pressure off you, and fights to win you the maximum compensation possible.

Michles & Booth has represented injured people across Northwest Florida since 2001, and our roots in Okaloosa County run deep. We only represent injury victims, and have never worked for an insurance carrier, and every case we take is handled on contingency, so there is no fee unless we recover money for you.

    Florida Accident & Injury Lawyers

Personal Injury Cases Our Attorneys Take On

We work across the full range of injury claims filed in Okaloosa County courts, from a highway rear-end collision on the coast to a nursing home neglect case in a nearby facility.
    • Car Accidents
A wreck on Highway 98, Miracle Strip Parkway, or Santa Rosa Boulevard can leave you with injuries that take months to surface. Our attorneys deal directly with the adjusters, pull the crash report, secure ECM data from the other vehicle when it matters, and value your claim based on medical evidence rather than a lowball formula.
    • Truck Accidents
Crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial trucks on I-10 or the coastal highway usually involve federal safety regulations, driver logbook rules, and multiple insurance policies stacked on top of each other. Our team knows how to preserve the black box data, identify every liable party in the chain of custody, and hold trucking carriers to the standard the FMCSA sets.
    • Motorcycle Accidents
Riders on the Panhandle face bias from adjusters and juries no matter what caused the crash. We push back with accident reconstruction, witness interviews, and helmet-cam or dash-cam footage where available. Motorcycle claims also carry insurance rules that differ from car claims, and we walk you through how that affects your recovery.
    • Pedestrian Accidents
A pedestrian struck by a driver in a parking lot, crosswalk, or residential street rarely walks away without serious injury. Our attorneys pursue every available insurance source, including uninsured motorist coverage on your own policy, to help cover the cost of your recovery.
    • Rideshare and Taxi Accidents
Uber and Lyft crashes involve layered coverage that changes depending on whether the driver was logged in, waiting for a ride request, or actively transporting a passenger. We map out which policy applies at the moment of impact and pursue the correct carrier for what your claim is worth.
    • Bicycle Accidents
Cyclists riding along Santa Rosa Sound or through neighborhood streets have every right to share the road. When a driver's inattention causes a collision, our Mary Esther attorneys handle the claim while you focus on physical therapy and getting back on the bike.
    • Workers' Compensation
An on-the-job injury at a construction site or in any Okaloosa County workplace should not cost you medical care or a paycheck. We handle denied claims, disputed impairment ratings, and employers who push injured workers back to duty too soon.
    • Medical Malpractice
Not every bad outcome is malpractice, but when a physician fails to meet the medical standard of care and a patient is harmed, it is. Michles & Booth has a licensed medical doctor on staff who reviews records in-house, which gives us a real advantage against hospital defense teams and their expert witnesses.
    • Social Security Disability (SSDI)
If a medical condition keeps you from holding a full-time job, SSDI benefits exist to bridge that gap. Our team handles initial applications, denials, reconsiderations, and ALJ hearings, and we know what the Social Security Administration looks for in a medically supported claim.
    • Wrongful Death
Losing a family member to another party's negligence leaves grief that no verdict fixes. What a wrongful death claim can do is cover lost income, funeral costs, and the loss of companionship, so surviving family members have the financial footing to move forward.
    • Dog Bite Injuries
Florida holds dog owners strictly liable when their animal bites someone, whether or not the dog had ever shown aggression before. Our attorneys work with your treating physicians to document scarring, infection risk, and any long-term nerve damage from the attack.
    • Premises Liability
Property owners in Mary Esther owe visitors a reasonably safe environment. Cracked sidewalks, unlit stairwells, wet floors without warning signs, and negligent security have all supported successful claims we have handled across the region.
    • Negligent Medical Care
Substandard care from a nurse, hospital, urgent care, or long-term facility can cause harm that ripples for years. We investigate the treatment records, identify where the breach happened, and pursue accountability from every provider involved.
    • Slip and Fall Accidents
Retail stores, restaurants, and apartment complexes have a legal duty to fix hazards or warn about them. When they do not, and a fall causes a fractured wrist, hip, or back injury, we hold the property owner and their insurer to that duty.
    • Nursing Home Abuse
Bedsores, unexplained bruises, sudden weight loss, and heavy sedation are not part of good care. If a loved one has shown signs of abuse or neglect in a facility, our lawyers pull the medical charts, staffing records, and state inspection reports to build the case.
    • Brain Injuries
A traumatic brain injury changes personality, memory, and earning power in ways that can take a year or more to fully surface. We work with neurologists, life-care planners, and vocational experts so any settlement or verdict we pursue reflects what recovery actually costs.

Long-Term Injuries That Change How You Live

Not every injury heals inside a settlement window. Some become part of daily life, and Florida law recognizes that. Our attorneys pursue the full cost of the injuries below, even when the ER discharge summary made them look minor.

    • Post-Traumatic Stress and Sleep Disruption

Panic attacks, flashbacks, insomnia, and driving anxiety are common after a violent crash or attack and rarely go away on their own. These count as compensable injuries in Florida, and our attorneys pursue mental-health treatment costs and the non-economic damages that come with them.

    • Permanent Disfigurement and Scarring

Visible scars, burns, and amputations carry a psychological cost as well as a physical one. Florida law recognizes disfigurement as its own category of non-economic damage, and we work with your medical team to document what will and will not fade over time.

Mary Esther Personal Injury Questions, Answered

      • Should I talk to the insurance adjuster before hiring a Mary Esther personal injury lawyer?

It is safer not to. Adjusters are trained to sound helpful while gathering information that limits what you can recover later, and a recorded statement, a quick settlement offer, or a signed medical authorization can all narrow your claim before you know what it is worth. Let us handle those calls so nothing you say gets used against you.

      • How long do I have to file an injury claim in Florida?

Florida law generally gives you two years from the date of the accident to file a personal injury lawsuit, following a change in state law that took effect on March 24, 2023. Some claims, including those involving government entities or medical malpractice, have shorter or different notice deadlines. A short call with our office will confirm which deadline applies to your situation before it becomes a problem.

      • What if the accident was partly my fault?

Florida follows a modified comparative negligence rule. If you are found more than 50 percent at fault, you cannot recover damages; if you are 50 percent or less at fault, your recovery is reduced by your share of the fault. Insurance adjusters often inflate that percentage on purpose, and pushing back on it is one of the first things our attorneys do.
